SCHOOL OF MUSIC, CUHK-SHENZHEN POSTGRADUATE PROSPECTUS 2022
The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was founded upon approval by the Ministry of Education and in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools. The School of Music of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (also known as Shenzhen Conservatory of Music (provisional)) is one of the ‘Ten Major Cultural Facilities in the New Era’ planned and built by the Shenzhen Municipal Government. It aims to become an international, innovative, and world-leading higher education institution for music. To cultivate
outstanding talents equipped with both academic and performance abilities, School of Music establishes innovative training modes for musical talents and an international training system that offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. It embraces the global environment, the tradition of the college system, the holistic education and the student-oriented education philosophy of CUHK-Shenzhen and broadens the global perspective of students through a modern university management system and internationally recognized academic standards and teaching models.The School is recruiting internationally. On April 29th, 2021, CUHK-Shenzhen announced the appointment of Professor Xiaogang Ye, a renowned composer and chairman of the China Musicians Association, as the founding dean of the School of Music. The faculty team is led by top-notch artists including Prof. Vera TSU Weiling, Prof. ZHANG Liping, Prof. SHI Yijie and Prof. ZHU Huiling. Students who fulfill all degree and graduation requirements (GAP requirement, etc.) will receive a Master of Arts degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong,
Ⅰ. Application Instructions
The 2022 MA Programme in Music Performance requires the applicant to apply for the programme online. Please refer to Annex Ⅰ and Annex Ⅱ for more information about concentration, the first round and the second round of the admission test.
Ⅱ. Our Mission

Ⅲ. Entry Requirements
Graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor's degree; or
Holding the evaluation and proof of the validity and authenticity of the Overseas Credential provided by CSCSE;
Normally, The Bachelor’s degree with honours is not lower than Second Class; or
Achieving an average grade of not lower than "B"; or
Completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honours degree.
Language Requirements: Pending CUHK Senate approval
To fulfill the University’s minimum English language requirements for admission to postgraduate programmes, applicants should have:
TOEFL: not lower than 67; or
TOEFL-iBT Home Edition: not lower than 67; or
IELTS (Academic): not lower than 6.0; or
IELTS Indicator: not lower than 6.0; or
IELTS Online: not lower than 6.0.
Notes: TOEFL or IELTS scores shall be valid and be submitted prior to admission.

I. Application Materials
- Copies of degree certificate and graduation certificate, or
The evaluation and proof of the validity and authenticity of the Overseas Credential issued by CSCSE, or
Verification of Enrollment
- Official Transcripts from the University attended by applicants (full transcript of all courses and its corresponding scores)
- Documents showing the applicant has fulfilled the English Language Proficiency Requirement (copies of valid TOEFL/IELTS transcript)

- Copies of your Identity Card (Domestic Applicants) or Passport (International Applicants)
- Information of at least two referees (Automatic emails will be sent to your referees)
- Any documents proving the awards of music competition (if applicable)
- Other supporting documents upon request.
Notes: Applicants shall ensure the submitted application materials be valid. If at any stage, it is found that the materials provided by the applicant is incorrect or false, his/her application for the admission to the Programme will stand cancelled. Any legal liability caused by the application shall be borne by the applicant.
II. How to Apply
Applicants need to fill in or submit all required materials via the online application system (Please use PC to access). On-site registration will not be accepted.

III. Application Deadline
Applicants should submit their application documents by the application deadline while language proficiency documents shall be submitted prior to admission. School of Music will review the qualifications of the applicant based on the materials provided. Please note that the notification on admission test for the shortlisted candidate who needs to attend the admission test will be sent from mus_admission@cuhk.edu.cn to the email address provided by the applicant. Applicants are advised to check their emails periodically prior to June 2nd, 2022.

End: 5 p.m. May 31st, 2022
Applicants must complete all application procedures within the specified time.
(i) Application Fees
A non-refundable application fee of CNY 300 will be charged.
Ⅳ. Admission Test
The admission test will be divided into two parts: the first round and the second round.
(i) The first round
Time: June 6th, 2022 to June 13th, 2022
Location: The Transitional Campus of the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen.

(ii) The second round
The shortlist and the time for the second round of the admission test will be uploaded on https://music.cuhk.edu.cn and the WeChat Official Account before June 15th, 2022.
Ⅴ. Normative Study Period, Tuition Fee and Degree-Awarding
MA Programme in Music Performance
Normative Study Period: 2 years
Study Mode: Full-time
Tuition Fee: CNY 120,000 / Academic Year
Accommodation Fee: CNY 1200 / Academic Year
Credit Unit Requirement for Graduation: 36 units (compulsory courses: 24-27 units; elective courses: 9-12 units)
Students who complete all degree and graduation requirements will receive a Master of Arts degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
