School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen Holds a Donation Ceremony
On the morning of October 26th, the C. Bechstein Piano Donation Ceremony and the Donation Ceremony of "Dean's Scholarship" and "Chanson de Montagne Scholarship" was held at the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen. This is School of Music's first donation ceremony held on campus while the earlier donation ceremony of “Mrs. Fidelia CHAN Yau Man-ying MA Best Performance Scholarship” was conducted online in Hong Kong in July 2022. Revered guests of the ceremony include Mr. LIU Wenbin, the Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC, Prof. Yangsheng XU, the President of CUHK-Shenzhen, Prof. Tony LI, the Associate Vice President of CUHK-Shenzhen, and Prof. Xiaogang YE, the Dean of the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen. The professors and students of the School of Music as well as the donators took part in the ceremony.

The donation ceremony was held in Room 106 of the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen
This event shows that the School of Music has entered a new stage of cultivating musical talents and utilizing social resources. At the ceremony, the "Dean's Scholarship" and the "Chanson de Montagne Scholarship" were publicly announced, and the C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano was officially received.

The “Dean’s Scholarship” was made possible by the first batch of donations from Shenzhen Shengjin Investment Holding and donators Mrs. Xinyuan ZHANG and Mrs. Youying PENG, who also donated the C. Bechstein piano to the School of Music. “Dean’s Scholarship” will be given to the teachers and students who made outstanding achievements or contributions to the School of Music.

Mrs. Xinyuan ZHANG, an experienced music educator, is the Director of Chiu Yinghong Piano Studio. Both Mr. Chiu and Mrs. ZHANG are dedicated to promoting public welfare and music education. Mrs. Youying PENG is a pioneer of the international creative industry. She has been fascinated with classical piano music and opera since she was a child, and she is dedicated to the development of music education.

"Chanson de Montagne Scholarship" was made possible by the donation from Green Pine Foundation, which will be granted to the students who make contributions to the creation, research and practice of traditional Chinese music. In his address at the ceremony, Dean Xiaogang YE extended his sincere gratitude to the donators for their support to the school, and their generosity which benefits the students and teachers of the school.

The founding of the two scholarships, the reception of the C. Bechstein Piano, and the founding of “Mrs. Fidelia CHAN Yau Man-ying MA Best Performance Scholarship” in July this year, indicate that the school has made solid efforts and will better advance the undertakings by making good use of these resources.

Following the speeches of Mrs. Xinyuan ZHANG and Mr. Fei LUO came three piano pieces on the C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano performed by Edoardo Turbil and Jiayin LI. The ceremony concluded successfully with a round of applause.
