Opera & Voice Division
The Opera & Voice Division of the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen has six full-time professors, two part-time professors, one vocal faculty, three lecturers, and six collaborative pianos, with professor Shi Yijie serving as the division academic leader. In the 2021-2022 academic year, the division admitted three undergraduate students for the first time. In the 2022-2023 academic year, the Opera & Voice Division achieved significant progress in enrollment and successfully admitted the first cohort of graduate students. Currently, the division has admitted a total of 34 undergraduate students and 51 graduate students.
The Opera & Voice Division students have participated in various grand performances and professional competitions both nationally and internationally from time to time, where they carried off golden prizes on many occasions, such as ‘Paolo Coni Vocal Award’ (the first prize) and ‘Young Vocal Star Award’ in The 8th Paolo Coni International Opera Vocal Competition; the first prize from Hunan province and Anhui province and the second prize from Henan province in the 14th China Music Golden Bell Award Vocal Competition; the ‘Shenzhen Special Award’ of the 3rd Chinese Art Song International Vocal Competition in 2022; the first and fourth prizes in the bel canto group at the 4th Shenzhen Vocal Season National Vocal Invitational Competition; the first prize in Group B of Romanticism in the second season of the Vivaldi International Music Competition which is also the only nomination of the group ‘Best Art Award’ in 2022.
The Opera & Voice Division of the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen aims to cultivate talents with both academic and practical capabilities, emphasizing both professional and quality education. The School gathers well-known musicians around the globe, serving the national and cultural development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
