Biography

Qi YAN is currently teaching Flute Performance at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He is also professor of flute and the director of the Orchestral Instruments Department at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music.

Prof. YAN also serves as a Doctoral Supervisor at St. Paul University Philippines, Chief Representative of the Italian Flute Association (AFI) in China, a Guest Professor at the South China Normal University, Shantou University, Zhaoqing University, and the Yehudi Menuhin School Qingdao. Besides, he is a Council Member of the China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, a Council Member of the Guangdong Musician Association, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Guangdong Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, an Executive Council Member and Vice Secretary-General of China Flute Association (CFA), a Council Member of the Guangdong Higher Music Education Association, and Vice Director of the Guangdong Music Association of Primary and Secondary Schools Music Education, Chairman of the Aesthetic Education Studio (Music) of Guangdong Undergraduate Higher Institutions.

As a renowned educator and performer, Prof. YAN has been a jury member for numerous competitions worldwide, including Nicolet International Flute Competition, Severino Gazzelloni International Flute Competition in Italy, Guangzhou International Flute Competition, CCOM Woodwinds National Competition, CFA National Competition, Hong Kong International Flute Competition, and Macao International Flute Competition, etc.
