Prof. Tianxia WU
Associate Professor (Teaching)
Tianxia WU is an Associate Professor (Teaching) at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Currently, he holds the Guest Principal Horn of the Macao Orchestra and is also a Faculty member at the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra Association. Besides, he is the Guest Principal Horn with a few Top-tier Asia-Pacific orchestras, including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, etc.
As a native of Shanghai, Tianxia WU is known for his expressive and passionate musicianship. He began his professional career by joining the Macao Orchestra in the fall of 2010 when he was appointed Principal Horn. Prior, he performed as a guest horn with the Harrisburg Symphony, the New World Symphony, the New York Sinfonietta, and the China National Ballet Orchestra. Since joining Macao Orchestra, he has collaborated with numerous artists around the world, such as Jian Wang, Lü Jia, Shao-Chia Lu, Emmanuel Pahud, Jahja Ling, etc. Since 2010, Mr. WU has been invited to perform as Principal Horn with the Asia-Pacific United Orchestra and has given concerts in many well-known concert halls, including the Musikverein in Vienna, Smetana Hall in Prague, and the General Assembly Hall of United Nations in New York.
Mr. WU received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from The Juilliard School in New York in 2006 and 2008, and an Artist Diploma from Yale University in 2010. His main teachers are Jerome Ashby and William Purvis.
