Prof. Xiaogeng LI
Assistant Professor (Teaching)
Xiaogeng LI is an Assistant Professor (Teaching) at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He is an experienced concert producer, lecturer, writer, and video creator. Before moving to Shenzhen, he worked with the China National Center for the Performing Arts as an Artistic Planning Manager for years, with responsibilities including season planning, tour arranging, artist management, commission, and program annotation. He has taught arts management courses at the Central Conservatory of Music as a guest lecturer since 2020.
In his arts management career, Xiaogeng LI has worked closely with many world-renowned musicians, not to mention Christoph Eschenbach, Myung-Whun Chung, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, David Robertson, Lu Jia, Xincao Li, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Lang Lang, Wang Jian, Yuja Wang, Magus Lindberg, Qigang Chen, and Xiaogang YE. Furthermore, he has been involved in artistic planning for hundreds of concerts. Notable projects include the Beijing Winter Olympic Opening Ceremony, the “Belt and Road” Summit Evening Gala, and the NCPA Orchestra North America Tour, etc. In addition, he has been responsible for the music season planning for the NCPA Orchestra since 2017. As a result, in 2021, the music season of the NCPA Orchestra was awarded “The Music Season of the Year” by Ganlan Classics.
Xiaogeng LI is the author of Two Minutes Understand Music: Decoding 100 Classical Works, published in 2020 in Beijing. He is also the writer and producer of Music Rewind, a 50-episode music history documentary series followed by many music lovers, which makes him reputable in the music community.
Xiaogeng LI graduated from Wayne State University and Central Conservatory of Music with MFA and BA degrees. He is also a saxophonist. Xiaogeng LI won the 3rd prize in the 3rd National Woodwind Competition in 2006.
