Biography

Yuan MA serves as a collaborative piano faculty at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.

She studied with Dr. Du Minshan at Middle School attached to the Conservatory of Music Xinghai from 2007 to 2012 and she completed her undergraduate and double major master's degree at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar, Germany with Prof. Peter Waas and Prof. Karl-Peter Kammerlander from 2012 to 2021. In 2021, she was admitted to the University of Music Karlsruhe in Germany and continued her Soloist Exam studies with Mrs. Heike-Dorothee Allardt. During her studies, she worked as a piano accompanist and participated in opera rehearsals at the Opera School of the University of Music Karlsruhe, she was a piano accompanist and vocal coach in the classes of Prof. Christian Elsner, Prof. Christiane Libor, and Prof. Hanno-Müller Brachmann.

In May 2022, she won the only Best Piano Playing prize in the first Ortenauer Young Talent Award competition. In the same year, she participated in the Art Song LiedDuo Competition in Groningen, The Netherlands, with her singer Yukari Fukui. In February 2023, she participated in the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, where she and her singer Yukari Fukui won Best Interpretation of a Vocal Work by Mozart (recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a Category B Competition). In April 2023, she won the only prize for Best Piano Playing at the Bella Voce Vocal Competition organized by the Badische Kulturfond Association. In May 2023, she won the award for Best Piano Accompanist at the International Vocal Competition in Basel, Switzerland, and was selected, together with her sopranist Yukari Fukui, out of more than 400 applicants worldwide, to participate in the Queen Elisabeth International Vocal Competition in Belgium (recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a category A competition), in August of the same year she and her singer Catalina Geyer participated in the German Music Competition. In September of the same year, she and her singer Tenor Wei Liu participated in the Schubert International LiedDuo Competition in Dortmund, Germany (recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a category B competition). In July 2024, she participated as a piano accompanist in the Bach International Vocal Competition in Leipzig, Germany (recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a category B competition). From 2020 to 2023, she worked as a vocal coach at the Opera and Vocal Department at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar, Germany.
