Biography

ZHANG Jingye, a renowned violinist and chamber musician, is currently a teacher at the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen and the chief of the specially invited band of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and performance director of the Beijing Modern Music Festival.

He is the winner of the "Golden Bell Award" Violin Competition, the Italian "Postacchini" International Violin Competition, and the "Bach Performance Award".

Besides, he has played in many of the great concert halls of Europe, North America and Asia including the Carnegie Hall in New York, the National Center for the Performing Arts of China, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and so on. His albums have been recorded on Radio Suisse Romande and the NCPA Classics, Huan Qiu Audio and Video Art Service Company and Pacific Audio and Video Co.

As a student of respectable Prof. LIN Yaoji, he also studied under the tutelage of Prof. WANG Guan, Prof. LI Xiangyang, Prof. LIN Chaoyang and Prof. Daniel Phillips and was instructed by renowned violinists including Isaac Stern, Pinchas Zukerman, and members of Amadeus Quartet. When studying at the Central Conservatory of Music in China, he was featured in the Oscar-winning documentary film From Mao to Mozart II as the talented young Chinese violinist with the most promising future.
