Biography

Yu LIU is currently an Associate Professor of Conducting at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Born in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province in 1981, Yu LIU studied in Germany from 2002 to 2014. He has successively studied at the Karlsruhe University of Music, the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, and the University of Art Berlin. He obtained a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, and a Soloist Exam degree (which is in China a doctorate degree in the authentication of the Ministry of Education). From 2014 to 2023, he has been worked as the deputy head of the Music Department, director of the orchestral Instrument at the School of Art of Northeastern University, successively served as the conductor of the Shenyang Symphony Orchestra, guest conductor of the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra, and permanent conductor of the Orchestra of Changchun Film Studio, and has also performed with the Chinese-Russian Chamber Orchestra of Harbin Conservatory of Music, the Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Symphony Orchestra of Shenyang Conservatory of Music. In February 2023, he was appointed a part-time faculty of Conducting Division at the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen. In October 2023, he was appointed an Associate Professor of Conducting Division at the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen.
